| Posted: 03 Nov 2012 08:02 PM PDT How many of you remember your first time? I mean, your first time in an MMORPG. Someone has set out on a mission to bring the spirit of Ultima Online to the modern age with non instanced 3D housing (yaay), a rares market (ooooh), PVP, PVE, a very deep crafting system, farming, player owned land and the list goes on. The game is called Greed Monger and it's a Free To Play Sandbox MMORPG that actually pays the bills by means of player owned land. They sell land by the parcel for $20 and on that parcel of land you can build your house or shop. Simple! You don't have to own land and can play the game for free in all it's glory, but most serious players will want a home of their own to show off their belongings. If you ever want to leave Greed Monger, then you will be able to auction off your land and everything on it in an estate sale for real money and the Greed Monger Gods will take only 15% to assign the Estate to a new owner. I think that's pretty brilliant. Also, they aren't going to be using any kind of Global Chat. They say that what modern MMO's have done with the global chats is dilute the sense of community and these large chat channels have become playgrounds for random chatter that ultimately get ignored. So, they are going with over the head chat just like in UO. I personally think these guys have it pegged. They are in the middle of a KickStarter.com campaign right now that is actually doing really well and the Producer of the game is funding it himself regardless of KickStarter outcome and their KS campaign is the only place you can buy more than 4 Parcels of land per account. I'm buying some land just to flip it later once they launch and each parcel is worth more. Heh I kid, I'm buying a Castle and will rule you all! Seriously, this game looks to have the promise of everything I've been waiting for for years and have yet to see. I for one support their efforts with my writing and my Kickstarter support. Check it out. |
