Rara (Dwi Tasya), 8 tahun, sangat ingin punya jendela di rumahnya yang kecil berdinding tripleks bekas di sebuah perkampungan kumuh tempat para pemulung tinggal di Menteng Pulo, Jakarta. Si Mbok (Ingrid Widjanarko), nenek Rara yang sakit-sakitan dan ayahnya Raga (Rafi Ahmad) yang berjualan ikan hias dan tukang sol sepatu, tidak cukup punya uang untuk membuat atau membeli bahkan hanya selembar daun jendela dan kusennya. Rara juga punya Bude, Asih (Yuni Shara).

Bersama teman-temannya sesama anak pemulung, sebelum ngamen atau ngojek payung jika hari sedang hujan, Rara bersekolah khusus untuk anak jalanan. Bu Alya (Varissa Camelia) satu-satunya pengajar sukarelawan yang membimbing dan membina anak-anak pemulung tersebut.

Di perumahan mewah Jakarta, Aldo (Emir Mahira), 11 tahun, yang sedikit terbelakang, merindukan seorang teman di tengah keluarganya yang sibuk dengan urusannya masing-masing. Ia anak bungsu dari pengusaha sukses, Pak Syahri (Aswin Fabanyo) dan Nyonya Ratna (Alicia Djohar). Kehadiran Nek Aisyah (Aty Cancer), ibu Pak Syahri, menjadi penghiburan untuk Aldo. Suatu hari, Aldo berkenalan dengan Rara yang saat itu tengah mengojek payung dan terserempet mobil Aldo. Sejak itu mereka menjadi akrab.

Di rumah Aldo semua panik karena karena Aldo minggat dari rumah, kecewa dengan sikap kakaknya yang terang-terangan mengatakan merasa malu memiliki adik seperti dirinya. Berbagai peristiwa yang mengejutkan dan menyentuh bergulir bersama kisah persahabatan Rara dan Aldo.

Once upon a time in the Southern Chinese city of Guancheng, there lived four families, each of them faithful keepers of martial arts.
